The Difference Between A1 and A2 Milk

The protein component in milk is made up of up to 80% casein.
Milk has several types of casein and beta casein is the second most common type casein in cow’s milk.

  • A1 beta-casein comes from foreign cow breeds that originated in Australia, United States, and Northern Europe. Jersey, Holstein, Friesian, Ayrshire, and British Shorthorn features A1 beta-casein genetic material. A1 beta-casein can be found on all commercially-prepared milk.
  • A2 beta-casein is protein found in milk produced by Indian and African origin cows like Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar. Milk produced by humans is similar to A2 milk and hence its super healthy for humans
  • Milk with A2 protein is known to have several health benefits. In fact, the health benefits and virtues associated with dairy and milk in our traditional texts are accrued from the A2 milk. The milk variety has been shown to prevent obesity among children and adults, improve brain function, promote digestion and increase breast milk production in feeding mothers.
